Oproep 2: Duurzaam internationaal werken
The bubble and the shrinking down of social imaginaries due to a monocultural programming, hyper local presences and voices and lack of access to inte
The lack of international traveling is deeply affecting the creative research of artists and also curators: due to the pandemic there is a tendency of hyperlocal programming that even if can strengthen the connection with the local fabric in a positive way, on the long run risks to affect our work of mediation within our territories, reducing the variety and diversity of artists we can host and invite. On a societal level we don’t challenge the national imaginary anymore which is concerning due to the divisive tendencies of nationalism/protectionism To keep the research opportunities open for curators to emerging artists not yet known in the circuit, the idea is to develop a critical net ( digital ) that can enable conversation among professionals all over the world, a new social space where to meet and share: as a follow up we can envision actions like arranging visits in a more sustainable way with long term residency in specific locations to dive deep in a territory and its context rather than the usual hop off dynamic
Flanders and Brussels have always been a nourishing place for the artistic ecosystem because of the co-existence of global and local and the diverse rich artistic community; it is a world in a nutshell where artists from different countries find a new home. The artistic community based there can be a precious antenna to develop this infrastructure of knowledge, connecting artists and professionals from any part of the world mobilizing own contact and benefit from the implementation of the net. Also the net could avoid a self closure of the national community in Belgium and the flattening of own programming capacity and artistic code for a lack of external inputs
evening would be better or week end but I can manage in a flexible way other schedule
