Oproep 3: Digitaal werken in de kunsten
The use of digital technologies in education has advanced greatly, particularly during the pandemic. However, it is still in its infancy in many art related subjects. Artists struggle to advance the use of digital technologies in teaching and art educators (& students) face challenges that prevent the successful adoption of such technologies in a digital classroom environment.
The aim of this project would be to engage with and motivate individual art educators to explore the potential of the Web and make them realise that it is a powerful tool that can not only help them share their talent with others but change the form and shape of art education at the same time. Even with all that added pressure, art educators should consider digital transformation as an opportunity to reinvent their teaching and inspire young students and young artists. In addition, an aim of the project would be to make promotion of online art classes and education enjoyable, collaborative, and exciting instead of a complicated process.
The impact of this project will be twofold. Primary, art educators will be able to destigmatise the “starving artist” from themselves, to approach the general public and make their work and artistic ideas accessible to the general public and their students with the help of technology and the Web. Artists have begun to realize that they are vulnerable to unpredictable disruptions to their "physical” presence. Many cultural bodies are already interested in building up digital audiences and artists should follow this strategy too. Diluting the experience of physical interaction with digital experiences is something that will prevail in the near future. Furthermore, digital tools and modern online teaching methods are allowing more students to access, create and enjoy art. This can limit cultural and art elitism due to accessibility and proximity constraints as art per se is not elitist.
