As visual artists we are interested in pushing the boundaries of spectatorship and think of new modes of dissemination as we are forced to change our social engagements in current times. The digital interface poses a barrier as well as an entry into reality, we seek to explore this negotiation and to think of what is private and intimate within the seclusion of the digital realm?
Isolation, a solitary experience, got a new meaning due to the pandemic. We seek the collective memory of a very personal moment in history. Through opening up these spaces, the visitor enters and trespasses the private spaces, which were closed off. The window of the screen emerged as a mode to access these spaces. Simulation of a moment in time, by capturing the isolated spaces through the potential of 3d scanning technologies. The technology mediates self – perception. We see the software as a creative tool and not something that just imitates reality, but an intersection between real and digital. Each space is four times removed from reality. The software adds its own messy layer by choosing certain information and lack of it in spaces where depth cannot be ascertained. This fragmented nature of the medium mirrors our reality today evokes a sense of immersion in this dislocated non-physical world. trailer - https://vimeo.com/526553629
We connect to the approach of Flanders art institute of unanimity, diversity in the world. The pandemic in a sense made us question our position as artists and we wanted to approach the digital through the medium of photogrammetry. As it is an accessible medium to everyone who owns a mobile phone, using a free software we hoped to democratise the process. The photogrammetry models are not only grounded to the material world but goes beyond it. To create a different type of immersion, where each isolation room holds it’s own emotional quotient. Mapping of emotions within the space, which then transcends into the viewers experience. Through this work we wanted to pose the question of everchanging reality in digital times. Questioning what it means to have a nostalgia of a moment and how the digital space works as an archive of today’s reality for tomorrow. Fostering community around the new media, the data collection generates an archival moment tying geographies of enclosed spaces together.

As scenic creators always celebrate making contact, in a shared territory. The distance required between the bodies with the current pandemic put us in a kind of check, and there, in that grid, half immobile, From that place we stopped to think and ask ourselves: How to continue creating and meeting with the audience? Can we use digital media to create a different form of scenic spatiality?
ACCESS SERVER addresses the unequal inclusion of disabled people in art institutions. There is unequal labor resting on disabled people to make access requests for closed captions, sign-language and scent-free spaces. Our tool collectivises this labor through a digital email server that compiles access requests and puts pressure on institutions to transform their relationships to access.
