Oproep 3: Digitaal werken in de kunsten
We wish to share, instead of produce, to digitally trigger collective & individual imagination & use it as a matrixial space for common experiencing. We plan to activate digitally & work with singular bodily memory & feel deeply the contingency of cultural codes, in developing an Internet platform & a methodology for conceiving listening-imagining-exercises, coming from local needs and memories.
We wish to: develop collectively, among a group of artists with a background in body & voice practices, a method & a manual for conceiving listening-imaginary exercises; these exercises are to be conceived, used & transformed by every participant, based on singular curiosity, bodily memory & socio-political imprints. We understand those exercises as means of recognition & emancipation. We draw from rhetorical tradition, psychology, aesthetic & learning theories, far Eastern religions & therapeutic methods of Eastern Europe; create an online platform for sharing, an incubator-like space where we upload exercises, comment on them, use, transform & filter them through our bodies; create an algorithm which we try to communicate with, let it create us anew in order to be challenged to find a changing, emancipative answer. conclude with a set of exercises for 2022. For the post pandemic, post internet & post meditative time, shifting, pulling apart cultural codes & preparing ourselves for communication beyond language & information.
We need to experiment with communication beyond language & information, explore new modes of presence & work on collective practices by using the potential of the digital to widen the body & its imaginative power and eventually make a use of its emancipatory potential. The political act begins in one’s own body & imagination. Hence it is crucial to work with the body, its memory and material existence, to investigate mechanisms of violence which are being imprinted into us. And then look for ways of emancipation. Following H. Arendt, we believe that privacy matters for a public life, in order to have the courage to represent an unique, personal viewpoint in public life, we have to be able to develop our own sense of who we are, which we seemed to deny for the last decades under the failure of the neoliberal. We should draw our focus on shared spaces, where everybody can be present and active in a unique, individual way. We see art institutions as incubators, safe spaces where vulnerable processes can & should happen.

Accessibility e.g. the expectation of internet access for a livestream performance. Cultural relevance: how to know your audience if you're not there
As a disabled, immigrant woman both my professional & personal interests align in presenting challenges to working digital in the form of ableist narratives & ecological racism. By virtue of living with chronic diseases I regularly face barriers to working digitally as a differently abled & woman of colour. This is a fundamental issue that needed to be overcome yesterday & I hope we can together.
